Account Deletion Policy
Your right to remove your data — explained clearly and transparently.
What Gets Permanently Deleted
- Your profile, name, email address, and bio
- Profile picture and all uploaded media
- All chat messages and conversations
- Homework posts and submitted files
- Notification preferences and account settings
- Saved tutors and bookmarks
- Ratings and reviews you submitted
What May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained for a limited period to comply with legal, tax, or financial obligations — even after your account is deleted.
- Transaction and payment records (up to 7 years for tax compliance)
- Dispute and fraud investigation records
- Anonymised usage analytics (no personal identifiers)
- Email address (to prevent re-registration if banned)
Wallet & Payment Data
- Remaining wallet balance will be refunded to the original payment account
- Pending payment requests are automatically cancelled
- Completed transaction records are retained for compliance
- Razorpay payment IDs may be retained as required by Indian financial regulations
How to Request Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account in any of these ways:
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app
- Email privacy@tutnect.com with subject: "Account Deletion Request"
- Contact our support team via the in-app support chat
Processing Time
- Requests acknowledged within 48 hours
- Full deletion completed within 30 days
- You may cancel within 7 days of submission
- After 30 days, deletion is irreversible
Account Reactivation
Once your account has been fully deleted, it cannot be recovered. If you wish to use Tutnect again, you will need to create a new account.
- You may register with the same email after the deletion window
- Previous wallet balance will not be restored
- Chat history and files cannot be recovered
Third-Party Data
Tutnect may share minimal data with trusted third-party services such as Razorpay (payments) and analytics providers. Deletion of your Tutnect account does not automatically remove data held by these third parties.
